North West
In the North West 3,121 residents, visitors, volunteers and on-site staff cast their votes for the Awards – the highest number of any UK region! They represent 182 developments, schemes, courts and estates managed by 44 housing providers.
In the Retirement Housing category, regional providers with reason to celebrate are Eden Housing (Cumbria), Plus Dane (Merseyside) and Northwards Housing (Manchester). Three national providers boast two Golds apiece – McCarthy & Stone, Anchor Hanover and Housing & Care 21, and the latter deserves special mention for wins for two older sheltered housing schemes they have remodelled and now manage for Oldham Council.
On the housing-with-care front a great success for Belong’s Princess Court, an ‘extended family’ sized community for just 12 residents in Crewe – and an equally impressive performance by Wythenshawe Community Housing’s much larger Village 135 in Manchester. Other local and regional providers also featured strongly, including Bolton at Home with no less than 3 Awards, Your Housing, Plus Dane and Eden Housing. National providers succeeded too, led by Housing & Care 21, Guinness Partnership and Retirement Security Ltd.
