West Midlands
In the West Midlands 1,697 residents, visitors, volunteers and on-site staff cast votes. They represent 133 developments, schemes, courts and estates managed by 36 housing providers.
Pride of place in the region’s awards list is shared by Housing & Care 21, McCarthy & Stone and Sanctuary Housing. Almost all the residents, and many visitors and staff, voted in their wining schemes – Copperfields in Lichfield, Jackson Place in Alcester and Corbet Court in Market Drayton. Other winning national providers are FirstPort, Anchor Hanover and Churchill/Millstream.
But regional and local providers put up a strong fight, with especially strong resident support for schemes by South Shropshire and South Staffordshire Housing Associations, Wrekin Housing Trust and Aspire Housing.
The West Midlands has embraced housing-with-care, and this is reflected in very strong support by residents, visitors and staff for the 8 winners in this category – led by a wide margin by Staffordshire Housing’s West End Village in Stoke-on-Trent. The results also illustrate the popularity of a wide variety of models of housing-with-care provision, with wins also achieved by Housing & Care 21, Anchor Hanover, Midland Heart, McCarthy & Stone’s YourLife Management, Aspire Housing and Rooftop Housing.
